From the perspective of large energy storage track, the global energy storage technology is mainly divided into mechanical energy storage, electrochemical energy storage, thermal energy storage and other routes. Electrochemical energy storage is the fastest growing technology in recent years due to its rapid decline in construction cost and short installation cycle, with a five-year CAGR of up to 80.3%.

 

As the mainstream of the development of new energy storage technologies, electrochemical energy storage has higher energy density and a more mature industrial chain. Compared with other energy storage technologies, electrochemical energy storage has more advantages in scene application, technology, cost, construction cycle, conversion efficiency and site selection requirements, with a high degree of flexibility and great growth potential.

 

With the rapid decline of battery cost, the profit of electrochemical energy storage gradually appears.

 

Household energy storage as a necessary auxiliary distributed energy system, the core is photovoltaic + battery + energy storage inverter. Household energy storage system is combined with household photovoltaic energy storage system. The optical storage system mainly includes battery, energy storage inverter (two-way converter), module system and other parts. Typical system is 5KW (module + inverter) supporting 10KWH (energy storage battery) or 10KW+10KWH, in which the battery is the core of the energy storage system. Cost accounts for about 45-50%; The energy storage converter can control charge and discharge, and carry out AC/DC conversion. The cost accounts for about 10-15%. Module system, namely photovoltaic system, is used for solar power generation, accounting for about 20-25% of the cost; In the current market environment, due to the high labor cost, the rapid increase in the number of installed machines caused by the energy war and other problems, the door-to-door installation cost increased from 10,000 in 2021 to about 20,000, accounting for 15-20%. Some regions need to queue for several months to complete the installation after placing orders, which has become one of the market pain points. It has also become an opportunity for competitors with sunken sales and installation channels to promote their brands.

 

At the same time, the price gap at home and abroad is large. Thanks to the strong support of the government and the rapid development of the domestic supply chain in recent years, the main driving force of the energy storage circuit is the large-scale application of lithium electric energy storage driven by the mature technology system of lithium iron phosphate. Domestic enterprises such as BYD and Ningde Times have made remarkable achievements in the global scope. Its advantages in battery cost and performance have been recognized by the international market.

 

Household energy storage as a small energy storage battery, the integrated core technology requirements are not high, its core competitiveness is product design and market.

 

1) From the product design layer: mainly the adaptation with the energy storage inverter and the customized product design according to customer requirements. For example, the BMS in the energy storage system need to be adapted to the energy storage inverter. The controller of the energy storage inverter communicates with the BMS through the CAN interface to obtain the status information of the battery pack, which can realize the protective charging and discharging of the battery and ensure the safety of the battery operation.

 

2) From the channel construction level: According to PV magazine’s survey, the biggest factor consumers consider when buying energy storage batteries is brand reputation. Consumers rarely know the source of the cells and components used, and the certification cycle of overseas channels is complex and long, so the channel construction and maintenance of energy storage manufacturers, downstream integrators and installers is particularly important.

 

Have a keen insight into foreign markets and policies; Can establish sufficient sinking product sales and service channels; How to continuously evolve in the system and product level along with the ever-changing user needs and gain brand recognition in the local market is the core barrier for overseas startups and also the value highland in the eyes of investment institutions.

 

With the trend of global energy transformation, the promotion of household light storage integration not only depends on its economic value, but also depends on the influence of green energy popularization on society and environment.

 

According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), solar and wind power will become one of the world’s major energy sources by 2030, and the global energy storage market will also see rapid growth.
