Lithium batteries are usually divided into two types: lithium metal batteries and lithium-ion batteries. Lithium metal batteries generally use manganese dioxide as the positive electrode material, metallic lithium or its alloy metal as the negative electrode material, and non-aqueous electrolyte solutions; Lithium ion batteries generally use lithium alloy metal oxides as the positive electrode material, graphite as the negative electrode material, and non-aqueous electrolytes. The best lithium battery should be combined with its own needs, taking into account different battery types, performance, prices, and other factors.
Lithium metal batteries belong to disposable lithium batteries; Lithium ion batteries belong to rechargeable lithium batteries and are used in mobile phones, power banks, electric tools, electric vehicles, energy storage devices, communication base stations, etc. Lithium manganese oxide batteries have a nominal voltage of 2.5-4.2V and are widely used as power batteries in the field of new energy vehicles due to their low cost and good safety. Ternary polymer lithium batteries have a relatively balanced capacity and safety, with a higher energy density, and are used in digital products such as mobile phones and laptops.
Lithium batteries have a high storage energy density, currently reaching 460-600Wh/kg, which is about 6-7 times that of lead-acid batteries; The service life can reach more than 6 years, and batteries with lithium ferrous phosphate as the positive electrode can be charged and discharged with 1CDOD, with a record of being able to be used 10000 times. The working voltage of a single lithium battery is 3.7V or 3.2V, which is approximately equal to the series voltage of three nickel cadmium or nickel hydrogen rechargeable batteries, making it easy to form a battery power pack with high power endurance. Among them, the lithium iron phosphate lithium-ion battery used in electric vehicles can achieve the ability to charge and discharge at 15-30C, facilitating high-intensity startup acceleration.
